Palo Cristi Collects Most Food in 2nd Annual Summer "Food Fight"

During June and July Palo Cristi engaged in an epic "Food Fight" with Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.
Each week both churches collected and weighed food and water for local food banks (Palo Cristi selected Agua Fria Food Bank).
While this was a "friendly competition" it had some high stakes: in the fall the two churches will worship together, but the pastor of the church collecting the least food has to preach, and her congregation has to serve food for all.
Anyway, the results are in, and Palo Cristi won! Palo Cristi collected 6,234 lb and Emmanuel collected 4,576 lb. (The real winners of the Food Fight are the Food Banks and those they serve. Think of it: almost 5 1/2 tons of food!)

Fall Worship at Palo Cristi

The calendar may say September and our friends in other parts of the country are talking about fall. It's been a fairly heavy monsoon year and our desert needs the moisture! However, in Phoenix we know it will be October before the 100 degree temperatures finally cease. Even so, many of our folks who have places "up north" are beginning to return for the fall and winter, and we want everyone to know it will be cool and comfortable at our 9:30 am worship each Sunday.
We are continuing to begin our time together with Praise Music led by our Music / Youth Director, Ted Gibson.
